Although many managing partners can justifiably say that their law firms’ lawyers are first rate and provide exceptional legal services, few can point to some objective basis for the claim. I can. For decades, Martindale – Hubbell has conducted the legal profession’s most respected and rigorous peer review process. Once an attorney has reached the requisite years of experience, and has already exhibited adherence to the highest ethical standards, the attorney is eligible to be rated by one’s peers, i.e., lawyers outside one’s own firm to whom the attorney has demonstrated knowledge, analytic capabilities, judgment, skill and professionalism. The highest rating, AV Preeminent, is, according to Martindale-Hubbell, “a significant rating accomplishment – a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.” Of our 36 lawyers, 20 have achieved their AV–Preeminent rating. While we knew this of course, we have recently had confirmed that our stable of exceptional lawyers places Carr, McClellan among the elite of the legal profession. Only 16 firms in Northern California with 20 or more lawyers, and only 66 throughout California, have as high as one third of their lawyers who are AV rated. Carr, McClellan has almost 60% with an AV-Preeminent rating. Nationally, of the 254,000 firms with 20 or more lawyers rated by Martindale-Hubbell, only 965 have more than one third of their lawyers who are AV rated; that’s less than 1%. I am proud to say that Carr, McClellan is among the crème de la crème of law firms.
Our peers in the legal profession have said it best with their Martindale-Hubbell assessment: Carr, McClellan is home to an exceptional group of attorneys. While we are gratified by this recognition from our peers, we remain dedicated to earning it every day from you, our exceptional clients.
