STRATEGIC GROWTH

As the New Faces article in this edition of Perspectives describes, the firm continues to grow.  Growth for growth’s sake, however, has never been our firm’s motivation.  Our culture has always focused on meeting clients’ needs and on building a team of quality lawyers and staff rather than on quantity.

With this theme in mind, the firm’s attorneys gathered for their annual retreat to assess the legal marketplace and Carr McClellan’s place in it.  We reviewed and discussed trends in the legal profession, the importance of being focused on client service, and the need to share “best practices” among all our attorneys.

The legal profession has seen significant consolidation in the past several years resulting in bigger national and international firms whose principal emphasis is on large litigation and mega mergers and acquisitions.  We believe our firm’s long standing and consistent focus on middle market businesses and their owners enables us to better serve the needs of our clients and potential clients.  As a result, we continue to be on the short list of mid-sized firms specializing in representing privately held companies and high net worth individuals.  Few firms can combine Carr McClellan’s experience and expertise in estate and wealth planning with the understanding and experience provided to businesses and their owners by our business, real estate and litigation attorneys.

Our retreat focused our attention on the need to consistently exceed our clients’ expectations.  We realize that unless we combine our experience and expertise with excellent client service, we will not meet the expectations of our clients. While we pride ourselves on being responsive, ever mindful of the need to provide value for our services and practical solutions to complex problems, we always strive to do better.

Finally, as we bring new and experienced attorneys into the firm, we discussed the importance of sharing “best practices” across all practice groups and experience levels.  Carr McClellan’s success is based on the fact that we have great lawyers who are great people and who have great staff assisting them.  The wealth of knowledge and wisdom of our many seasoned veterans, when mixed with the talent and energy of our newer attorneys, results in an exceptional team.
